Redesigning High School Education
One of the projects for my Design Communications course was focused on how we might alter the traditional high school experience, inspired by the film, Most Likely to Succeed (http://mltsfilm.org/). We were tasked with creating an infographic and animation that demonstrated both an idea for redefining "high school" and the data to back up our idea.
The Gap? As more and more careers are calling for candidates to be able to think critically and develop innovative ideas, why is the high school curriculum not adapting to give students the opportunity to develop these skills?
The Solution? I found that there is a tremendous amount of opportunity to harness adolescent brain development in order to better prepare students for future careers by allowing them to develop the ability to think critically and creatively while their brains are developing, as detailed in the video below. |
